It's from this idea that the new video series about money and women from Poupança no Minuto with Joana Barrios begins.
Over three episodes, Joana prepares three moments of a menu - appetizer, main course, and dessert - while discussing different topics related to women's financial life.
Each moment of the meal also represents a phase of life, creating a metaphor for different moments, choices, and financial challenges women may experience over time.
The series starts with: financial independence. While preparing her beetroot carpaccio with feta, Joana talks about how we learn to handle money, daily choices, and the role financial independence can play in our freedom.
Next week, she returns to the table to continue this conversation. And, of course, with a new recipe.
In addition to a delicious carpaccio starter, here are some ideas to take into life and our relationship with money.
From an early age, women and men can receive different messages about money and how they should relate to it.
For a long time, topics like banking, credit, and investment were mainly communicated to men. For many women, this may have contributed to a feeling of distance from the financial world - as if certain subjects were not for them.
Talk more about money, ask questions, and seek information are ways to make this universe more close and accessible.
Know how much comes in, how much goes out, and where the money goes to make more conscious decisions — today and in the future.
Having control over your own money means having more choice. It doesn't mean knowing everything about finance. Start by understanding your financial reality and recognizing the available options.
The more clarity, the more tools we have to decide what to do with our money.
Our relationship with money is also built on small decisions.
Bring lunch, compare prices before buying, avoid impulsive purchases, or review a subscription you no longer use are simple examples of choices that can help manage the budget better.
None of these decisions, alone, transform our financial life. But, when repeated over time, they can make a difference and create space for other choices.
Financial independence does not necessarily start when you earn a lot of money.
Have your own money, know how to manage it, and build a financial life that doesn't depend on others can give more freedom to make decisions about the present and the future. Because, at the bottom, financial autonomy is this: having space to choose what we want for our lives.
At Poupança no Minuto, we believe information is an important part of financial independence. That's why we help make topics like credit and insurance simpler, so you can better understand your options and find ways to save.
We analyze your case to help you find ways to save money and gain more time and money for what really matters: your freedom.
